Written by in , Comments Off on Recipe for Cretan Style Citrus Greek Salad

Citrus fruits, such as oranges, are plentiful on Crete. They pair well with the fresh beats. The crisp watercress provides the salad with a nice contrast. You can substitute arugula, chicory, dandelion, or other crisp salad green if you prefer.

Cretan Style Citrus Greek Salad (Salata Kritiki) Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 cups watercress
  • 4 small beets, blanched, peeled, and sliced
  • 1 recipe ladolemono
  • 3 large oranges, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 8 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
  • 12 pitted Kalamata olives

How to Make Cretan Citrus Salad:

Arrange the watercress and then the beets onto a serving platter.

Prepare the ladolemono according to the recipe instructions and pour it over the beets and watercress. Let stand for five minutes.

Arrange the orange wedges over the other ingredients, sprinkle with feta cheese, and arrange the Kalamata olives on top. Serve immediately.
