Spoon sweets are commonly served and prepared throughout Greece. The basic idea is always the same. Most Greeks tend to use whichever fruit is in season to make them. This recipe is made when pears are in season.

Greek Style Pear Spoon Sweet Recipe Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds fresh pears, peeled and chopped or sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How to Prepare Greek Style Pear Spoon Sweets:

Place the pear slices, water, and granulated sugar into a saucepan.

Set the heat to medium and let the mixture starts to bubble.

Turn the heat to low and simmer the mixture until the pears are soft. This should take about ten minutes.

Stir in the lemon juice and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.

Pour the spoon sweet into sterilized glass jars. They’ll keep in the refrigerator for about a week.
