Written by in , Comments Off on Recipe for Tiganites – Greek Style Pancakes

This recipe actually has its roots in Ancient Greece but it is still being cooked throughout Greece today. After the pancakes are done, they are typically served with a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of walnuts or sesame seeds.

Greek Style Pancakes (Tiganites) Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Olive oil, for frying
  • Honey, for drizzling
  • Walnuts or Sesame seeds, for sprinkling

Instructions on How to Prepare Greek Pancakes:

Add the flour to a mixing bowl. Stir in the water and honey. Keep stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Pour a few tablespoons of oil to a skillet and warm on medium heat for a minute or two. Add 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Cook each pancake on one side for about 3 minutes, or until set.

Flip the pancake and cook for another minute or two until the pancake is fully set. Remove the pancake from the pan and repeat until all the batter is gone. Drizzle each cooked pancake with honey and sprinkle with walnuts or sesame seeds just before serving.
