Greek Christmas Sangria
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 lemon slices
- 4 cranberry herbal tea bags
- 1 bottle Moschofilero (Nasiakos) or Palivou St. George
- 2 to 4 tablespoons Metaxa 5 Star
- ½ pint fresh strawberries, washed and trimmed
- 1 orange unpeeled, washed & cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1 cup club soda
Directions:
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick and lemon. Simmer over medium heat, reduce heat to low. Simmer another 10 minutes. Remove pan from heat.
- Add in the tea bags, and let sit for 5 minutes. Now remove solids with slotted spoon.
- Refrigerate the tea mixture until cool. Put into a large serving container. Add in wine and brandy. Now add orange and strawberries. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, add club soda.
