Tourist port of Rhodes islandAs the largest of all the islands in the Dodacanese islands group, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do on Rhodes. However, if you’re traveling with your whole family, including your children, it stands to reason that you’ll want to concentrate on the activities that the whole family will enjoy. Here’s an overview of some things to do that everyone in your family will love no matter how young they are:

Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes

If the members in your family love learning about marine life, the Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes, also referred to as the Rhodes Aquarium, is worth a visit! There are exhibits here that will appeal to visitors of all ages, and it is the best way to catch a glimpse of the marine life in the waters surrounding Rhodes and throughout the rest of Greece. Although this aquarium is on the small side, there’s still plenty here to hold people’s interest.

Rhodes Old Town

Visiting the Old Town in the main city in Rhodes is something that also appeals to all ages. Children especially love it because of the air of mystery it provides. In order to help spark their imagination, learn a little about the Medieval history of the island so that you can explain it to them as you walk through the streets. They’ll enjoy imagining what the island was like back then. It also might be worth it to take a guided tour as a family so that you can all learn a bit more about the area.

Visit One of the Beaches

Besides having a rich history, Rhodes is also known for its beaches. However, some are better for families than others. Vlicha Beach is an especially convenient choice if you’re staying near the main town in Rhodes. Faliraki Beach is also great for families because there are plenty of services here and the water is calm and fairly shallow. Tsambika Beach has several nearby restaurants and also some services to enjoy. No matter which beach you visit, however, your whole family will surely have a great time.

Falikraki Water Park

If you happen to be at the Faliraki Beach, you might want to stop in on the water park for a change of pace! Although this water park is fairly small, there’s still enough here to entertain the whole family. There are several attractions here for the whole family, including tame water slides as well as those that will give more of an adrenal rush.

Valley of the Butterflies

Petaloudes, also referred to as the Valley of the Butterflies, is one of the more enchanting places on the island. If you happen to visit the island in between the months of June and September, you’ll absolutely want to spend some time here. The place is absolutely covered with butterflies, and this is definitely a site that the whole family will enjoy. Be sure to take the time to learn about the butterflies and the surrounding area so that you can also turn it into an educational experience.

If visiting Rhodes with your family, including children, you won’t want to miss these activities!
