Best Beaches to Visit on Zakynthos

Written by in , Comments Off on Best Beaches to Visit on Zakynthos

During peak tourist season, Zakynthos has a lot of visitors. However, because the beaches are fairly spread out, the crowds are evenly dispersed. That leaves behind a perfect mix of a bustling, friendly atmosphere with plenty of peace and quiet to enjoy the gorgeous natural beauty. Nowhere is this more evident than on the island’s gorgeous coastline. Here’s a list of some of the best beaches to visit while here:

Navagio Beach

Also known as Shipwreck Beach, Navagio Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. This beach, which is located on the western side of the island, is named after a shipwrecked boat that sits on the sand. It is said that this ship was being used to illegally transport cigarettes before it got stuck here. Now, the shipwreck gives the beach a unique feature that makes it highly photographable. The beach itself is also the ideal spot for people to enjoy the sun, sands, and crystalline waters.

The cliffs that are located next to the beach also make for some great photo opportunities.

Gerakas Beach

If you’re looking for a place that is rich in natural beauty, you won’t want to miss the chance to visit Gerakas Beach! This is a beach that people flock to who want to spend the day lounging in a rented sun bed while soaking up the sun. The sand is also soft and the waters are warm. Many report that this is their favorite beach on the island for swimming!

Kalamaki Beach

Kalamaki Beach is another great beach to spend your time while visiting Zakynthos. It’s not only a great place for swimming and sunbathing, but it’s also known for being a great location for water sports, such as snorkeling and scuba diving. There are also plenty of facilities here, as well as the chance to rent sun beds. Because there is so much to do here, you could easily spend the day.

Porto Zoro Beach

Do you love beaches that attract a healthy crowd? If so, you won’t want to miss the chance to visit Porto Zoro Beach! Because of it’s stunning natural beauty and long, sandy shoreline, this beach gets pretty busy during peak season. Once you arrive here, it is easy to see why – it’s not only beautiful, but the sun, sand, and water are all ideal for lounging and spending the day in the sun.

Porto Vromi Beach

Are you looking for a beach that is a bit more secluded? If that’s the case, you’ll want to head to Porto Vromi Beach. Because it is located a bit off the beaten track between the villages of Maries and Exo Xora, this keeps the crowds at bay. Still, there are enough people who do find the beachso that it doesn’t feel completely isolated. There aren’t too many facilities around, though, so you’ll want to bring your own lunch.

Zakynthos is known for its beautiful beaches, and these are some of the best that the island has to offer!
