Agios Nikolaos was rebuilt in 1820, but holds a history of the town since 1651. It is unique in world history as a monastery built especially for women. It sits between two villages of note, Firostefani and Imerovigli, which are filled with traditional homes, shops, taverns, lodgings, and breath-taking views of the capital, Fira.

Food and wine are paramount to Greek culture. Fertile volcanic soil yields fantastic foods and wines that support delicious local flavors.
