Getting to Kefalonia and Makris Gialos Beach
Before you can enjoy the beach, you first need to make your way to Kefalonia. Since the island is fairly large, it has both a ferry service and a regional airport. If you are originating in Athens, however, you might want to consider taking a flight because it is so convenient. As mentioned above, Kefalonia is an extremely beautiful island that is known for its beautiful scenery. Not only is this beach gorgeous, but it is also conveniently located near the main city of Argostoli, which means that visiting here is convenient. Since it is only 4 kilometers you can easily reach it by car, bus, or taxi. Depending on how close your resort is to the beach, you may even be able to walk if you want to get some exercise. The beach itself is located in an area with plenty of resorts so you might want to stay close to the beach if you know that you want to spend plenty of time here.
Why would you want to visit the beach? First of all, it is located in a gorgeous bay that always seems to have perfect weather. The water is crystal blue and incredibly warm. The sun is warm and seems to shine most of the time. It is also low on wind since the bay shelters people from extreme weather. Lounging in the sun here is a great way to pass the time. The beach also has some facilities to use and there are also chairs and sun beds to rent. If you are staying in a nearby resort, check with your hotel to see if they have a spot on the beach reserved for its guests. Sometimes, resorts provide their guests with sun beds and umbrellas. This is first come, first serve so if your hotel does have space, you’ll want to get here early.
