Like many Greek islands, Lefkada is a place where people flock in order to relax and take in the sights and they particularly love the beaches. Porto Katsiki Beach is one of those places that people seem to enjoy most, and visitors come here year after year in order to spend time here. How to Get to Porto Katsiki Beach
Lefkada is one of the Ionian islands, which means that it is located on the western side of Greece. Lefkada is very close to the mainland and it is actually connected to it through a fifty meter long drawbridge. This means that when you arrive in the Athens airport, your best bet is to rent a car and drive to the island yourself. You can also take a bus. However, the easiest way is to get here by driving. If you are located elsewhere in Greece, you can also consider taking a ferry. If you want to take a regional flight, you can also fly into Aktion National Airport, which is the closest airport to the island. From there, you can rent a car or take a bus to your hotel and then find your way to the beach using the transportation on the island or by driving there yourself.
What Porto Katsiki Beach is Like
As you can see through the photograph shown here, the beach is incredibly unique. Like many of the beaches located throughout Greece, the water is warm and is a gorgeous shade of blue. The sun is also warm since Greece has a great climate for beach goers. However, the interesting thing about his beach is the overall landscape. Giant rock structures hug the shore, leaving a small strip of sand that beach goers can enjoy. In order to get down to the beach, you’ll also need to hike down a short trail, which means that people who are unable to hike may not be able to get down to the shore. You’ll also need to carry your own supplies here, such as water and food. However, there are sun beds and umbrellas located on the beach that you can rent once you get down here.
Things to Do While at the Beach
Porto Katsiki Beach is unique, and there are also plenty of things that you can do while here. You definitely won’t want to miss the chance to take some great photos. Be sure to snap a few before you even head down to the beach because the views from above are just as amazing as they are on the shore. It’s also a great place for water sports such as swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. However, if you decide to enjoy these sports, you’ll need to bring your own equipment.
