Written by in , Comments Off on Unique Experiences to Have on Rhodes

Beautiful Greek island,Rhodes is one of the most enchanting islands in all of Greece, not only because of its rich history, but also because of its charming landscape. Whether gazing at an old fortress, hiking through the beautiful terrain, or lounging on the beach, Rhodes is an island that can really help you get away from it all. Despite that, most visitors feel as if they simply can’t see everything they want. That’s why it’s so important to have a plan that involves some of the most unique things to do on the island! Here’s a roundup of what you should make time for while here:

Valley of Butterflies

When visiting Greece, butterflies aren’t things that necessarily come to mind. However, the Valley of Butterflies on Rhodes is an experience that you won’t want to miss! It’s located to the southeast of Theologos, one of the island’s villages. Not only is this area stunningly beautiful, but it comes to life in August when the butterflies are here. As such, if you definitely want to see these butterflies, be sure to travel to Rhodes during this month.

Lalysos

Although Rhodes is most known for being the head of the Knight’s of Saint John, the history of the island is much older than that! Nowhere is this more obvious than in Lalysos, one of the oldest places on the island. The ruins here date back to the 3rd millennium B.C. and other places nearby date back to Byzantine times. This place isn’t just reserved for history buffs either. Everyone will enjoy taking in the ruins and learning a little about the ancient past of Rhodes.

Seven Springs

If you love natural beauty, you won’t want to miss the Seven Springs. If you are staying near the main city in Rhodes, you will need to drive about 30 kilometers before you get here. However, the effort is well worth it. This is a beautiful spot filled with rustic wooden bridges, pine trees, and plenty of opportunities to picnic in a natural setting. You can easily spend the day here walking around, taking pictures, and relaxing in the sun. If you don’t want to pack your lunch, consider stopping at the taverna. However, it often closes down in the slow winter months.

Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes

Do you love learning about marine life? If so, you won’t want to miss the Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes. This aquarium is one of those unique experience that you can’t necessarily get elsewhere in Greece. However, if you do find yourself on this island, you won’t want to miss it. This is the perfect place to catch a glimpse of what life is really like underwater around the island! People of all ages love it here, and you will get even more out of it if you spend time while on the island either snorkeling or scuba diving.

When on Rhodes, you are sure to want to do all the typical things, such as eat delicious Greek food, visit the beaches, and take in the history. However, that is not all there is to do. These unique experiences should top high on your list!
