Samos is an island to the far northeast of the Aegean Sea. It also isn’t one of the big islands in Greece, but it has been delighting tourists for decades. Like most places in Greece, this island has a rich history. It is also a popular spot for resort goers and those who want to spend much of their time on the island lounging at the beach. Although there are plenty of other things to do on the island, such as see the sites, eat a great meal, and enjoy the nightlife, the beaches are one of the highlights. Here’s a look at some of the best beaches the island has to offer:
If you are looking for a beach that showcases the island’s beauty, Tsamadou Beach is it. In fact, visitors and locals alike believe that this is one of the best beaches in the area. One thing that makes this beach so beautiful is the fact that it is surrounded by lush greenery. The water sparkles a clear blue and is also great for swimming. There are also snack bars and other amenities located on the beach or nearby, which can increase your enjoyment. This beach is about 3 kilometers away from the town of Kokkari.
Potokaki Beach is a fairly long beach that can accommodate a large number of guests. As a result, this beach never truly feels crowded. Instead of sand, however, it is made up of pebbles so be sure to bring comfortable shoes. This beach is also beautiful and a great places for lounging in the sun. The water is also incredibly warm. If you want to spend your beach day in a relaxing location, you should consider heading to Lemonakia Beach. This beach is located in a bay that is sheltered from the elements, which means that many of the things that could annoy beachgoers trying to lounge, such as the wind or choppy waters, aren’t an issue here. In fact, this bay is the home to one of the most popular beaches on the island. Since it is tucked a bit out of the way (it is around thirteen kilometers from Vathay) there also won’t be as many people here as some of the other beaches.
Psili Ammos Beach
Psili Ammos Beach is on the small side, but lounging here does make for a pleasant afternoon. It is located about ten kilometers from Vathay, which is actually the capital of Samos. Since it is a bit out of the way, the fact that it is small doesn’t seem to be an issue. Many visitors seem to pass this beach over, which makes for a quiet escape. There are also sun beds and umbrellas to rent here.
While on the island of Samos, you’ll want to consider spending time at one of these gorgeous beaches!
