Visit The Church of Panayia Evangelistria In Tinos

Written by in ,

The third largest island of the Cyclades island group, Tinos is known for being a place of religious pilgrimage.

The Church of Panayia Evangelistria is the most famous place of worship on the island of Tinos. Whether you are a religious person or not, visiting this church is a must, as it is it full of rich history and fascinating traditions. If you’re looking to avoid crowds, then you should visit the church during the week, as many will flock to the Church of Panayia Evangelistria to worship on weekends, specifically to worship the icon of the Virgin Mary. Many worshipers believe that the icon of the Virgin Mary has healing powers, as often you will see lines forming before the icon for this very reason. There are also museums that surround the church that are well worth your time. But despite what your religious views may be, visiting the Church of Panayia Evangelistria is an unforgettable experience. However, it should be noted that you should choose your clothing carefully, as wearing shorts, short skirts, and sleeveless tops near the churches is considered disrespectful in this culture.

The most popular beach on the island of Tinos is Rochari Beach. You’ll be blown away by how incredibly blue the water is. And not just how blue it is, but how warm it is, too! The beach is very clean with golden sands and an excellent beach bar that serves some of the best cocktails on the island. Rochari Beach is easily accessible, and provides a lively and fun environment for all of its visitors. The beach is perfect for bringing the kids along, as the water is really shallow off the coast, and they even serve ice cream on the beach. When it gets too hot, you can seek shade either underneath an umbrella or under one of the many trees in the beach area. Overall, it’s a really beautiful beach that has a little something for visitors of all ages.

As great is Rochari Beach is, Livada Beach is the hidden gem of Tinos. This beach isn’t for everyone, as you will more than likely encounter plenty of wildlife here, but it is so secluded that crowds are a rarity, and there’s a chance that you might even have the whole place to yourself. It’s not exactly the most convenient beach to find, but once you get there, you will fall in love with all of the amazing views at Livada Beach. At the end of the beach, you’ll find a restaurant that serves really good food as well.

If you’re looking for a fun adventure while in Tinos, you’ll have to look up Paesino Diving Center. The owners are incredibly knowledgable about their craft, and put an emphasis on maintaining a fun and loose atmosphere with their customers. The Paesino Diving Center will take you to all of the great diving spots around the island of Tinos, making sure that you get plenty of photo opportunities to remember this amazing experience.
