The Cathedral will hold its Annual Veterans Day Remembrance Program in honor of its 839 veterans who served in the U. S. Armed Forces from WWI to the present.
The Program will be held at the Cathedral on Sunday, November 9th, following the Divine Liturgy.
Included in the Program will be a special service for the over 500 deceased veterans.
Participating will be the Hansom Field Color Guard, the George K. Menichios
Post 324 American Legion, branches if the armed forces and Evzones from the Hellenic American Societies of New England.
The service will include a wreath presentation, descriptive flag folding, “Taps,” and the singing of the “Our Father” by choir member Colleen Palmer. Following this solemn service, a tribute to the many sacrifices and heroic bravery of the veterans in defense of our freedom will be made by a special armed forces guest.
Our Cathedral Choir will conclude the festivities with a medley of patriotic musical numbers. The Cathedral Veteran’s Carillon, dedicated in memory of the veterans, will play “Let There Be Peace on Earth” as attendees file out. The Cathedral Ladies Philoptochos will then host a warm reception in the Fellowship Hall.
Photographic displays of veterans and other memorabilia including the Memorial Veteran’s Plaque with 839 veterans will add further nostalgia to the Program.
Cathedral veterans, or a member of their family, will be recognized with a Patriotic Cross Pin by the Cathedral Youth.
