Comments Off on Why You Should Visit the Island of Ios
It’s easy to pass over the smaller party island of Ios for various reasons. Perhaps you don’t want to party and prefer a quieter vacation. Maybe you’d rather visit some of the larger islands, which surely have a slightly more intense nightlife. The truth is, Ios is truly worth a second glance. Those who don’t want to party can find solace in some of the smaller villages and isolated beaches. Those who don’t visit here because they fear the parties are better elsewhere are also missing out. The truth is, this island has something for everyone. It’s just as friendly to families and those looking for a quiet experience as it is to those who are looking for more of a “scene”. Ios deserves a chance by all! Here is a list of reasons why you should visit the island:
Ios is truly picturesque and the scenery is one of the things that attracts people to the island. It is one of those Cycladic islands that has excellent beaches, but the island is about more than that. There are rolling hills throughout, many of which are rich with green vegetation. Spend some time walking through the hills and admiring the stunning views. Don’t forget to bring your camera! If you can, book a room at a hotel or resort that overlooks Mylopotas Bay or some of the beaches.
The beaches are another reason to visit this island. There is a beach here for everyone! Those who want more of a party atmosphere should head to Koumbara Beach, which is near one of the biggest resorts on the island. For a quieter experience, head to Kalamos Beach, which is fairly isolated and will provide relaxation to those hoping to avoid the crowds. Other beaches to spend time at include Gialos Beach, Mylopotas Beach, and Manganari Beach. Those who love outdoor sports should head to Gialos Beach, Koumbara Beach, and Mylopotas Beach. In fact, the island is particularly known for its water sports!
Even if you don’t intend to participate in the nightlife, you’ll find that the vibe is fairly contagious once you’re here! Spend some time in some of the local bars, restaurants, and tavernas and you’ll find that it isn’t as overwhelming as it believes. In fact, locals and travelers alike flock to many of these places in search of fun, relaxation, and a good meal. If you get a chance, visit the Astra Cocktail Bar, Click Cocktail Bar, and Pash Night Club, which are all considered great bars.
There are a few things that set this island apart from the rest. Although it is known for being a party island amongst students, it is actually family friendly. Those who want to avoid the nightlife should stay away from places like Mylopotas during peak season because that is where many of the students tend to be concentrated. To avoid some of the more intense crowds, consider visiting the island in May, September, or October. The weather is still nice but the places aren’t as crowded.
