Halloumi is a traditional cheese that is made on the island of Cyprus, which isn’t officially a part of modern-day Greece but it was part of Greece at one time. It has a sizable Greek population. This dish is traditionally served as a meze, or appetizer.

Greek Style Grilled Halloumi Cheese Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound block of halloumi cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried Greek oregano

Instructions to Make Grilled Halloumi:

Preheat the grill to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cut the halloumi cheese into slices about 1/4 inch thick. Brush each of the slices with olive oil front and back. You’ll want to save some of the oil for drizzling at the end.

Grill each slice for 2-3 minutes on both sides. Remove from the grill and drizzle with the rest of the oil, lemon juice, and sprinkle with oregano.
