The symposium is named for Georgios Nicolaou Papanicolaou, the Greek inventor of the Pap Smear. The event will be held on May 13th, Dr. Papanicolaou’s birthday. The lectures will bring to focus the prognostic and therapeutic implications of HPV positivity in genital and nongenital cancers with an emphasis on prevention strategies and the essential role the Pap smear continues to play in early diagnosis of (pre)cervical cancers, and will conclude with a reception to honor and celebrate the life and work of Dr. Papanicolaou.

The intended target audience for the symposium is physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals and invited guests.

About NEHMDS
NEHMDS was established in 1973 by a group of Greek physicians working in Boston. The goal of the society is to foster medical education, friendship, collaboration, communication, community awareness, and networking amongst professionals with common Hellenic ancestry and/or interests.  One objective of the organization is to conduct meetings, forums and conferences and engage in such activities and disseminate such knowledge as shall be useful for its members in their professions and as shall make them more proficient in their work.
