Figs grow very well throughout Greece, which means that dishes such as these are common all over the country. Uses the freshest figs you can find!

Greek Style Baked Figs Recipe Ingredients:

  • 16 small or 8 large, fresh figs
  • 1/3 cup Greek honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons sweet red wine, like Mavrodaphne

Directions on How to Make Greek Style Baked Figs:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush a baking dish with Greek olive oil or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.

Wash the figs and pat them dry with clean paper towels or a clan cloth. Cut them in half if the figs are small or in quarters if the figs are large. Lay the figs flat on the baking dish.

Combine the honey, cinnamon, orange juice, and red wine together in a small dish. You might want to use a small whisk to do this or you can even pulse it in a small blender. Drizzle the mixture over each of the fig peaces.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place in the center of the oven. Bake until soft. This should take about 30 minutes.
