Written by in , Comments Off on Recipe for Greek Style Crab Cakes

There is a certain type of crab that is native to the waters in the Mediterranean. You can, however, make this dish with any crab meat you can find. Lobster meat also makes a great substitute, and there is also a type of lobster available in the waters near Greece.

Greek Style Crab Cakes (Kavourokeftedes) Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 pound crab meat
  • 2 tablespoon chopped, fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped, fresh dill
  • 1/2 cup prepared skordalia
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Instructions to Prepare Greek Crab Cakes:

Add the crab meat, parsley, dill, skordalia, salt, and pepper to a medium bowl and combine with a wooden spoon or your fingers. Form into six patties that are around the same size and place on a baking sheet that has been lined with waxed paper. Cover the sheet with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for about on hour.

Pour a large skillet with the olive oil and set the heat on the burner to medium. Let the oil warm up and then place each patty on the frying pan. You may need to do this in batches depending on how big the pan is. Cook each patty for 3-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked all the way through. Remove each patty from the pan and drain on paper towels.
