Recipe for Greek Style Loquat Preserves

Written by in , Comments Off on Recipe for Greek Style Loquat Preserves

Loquats are fairly common throughout Greece since citrus fruits grow well in the climate. These preserves are made when they’re in season.

Greek Style Loquat Preserves Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 cups seeded and quartered loquats
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Prepare Greek Style Loquat Preserves:

Add the loquats, sugar, water, and lemon juice to a saucepan.

Set the heat to medium-low and cook the mixture, stirring vigorously as the sugar dissolves.

When the mixture begins to bubble, set the heat to low and stir in the vanilla extract.

Continue cooking the preserves until the loquats are tender and the preserves are thick.

Pour the preserves into clean, sterilized jars and store them in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
