It is correct to say that Greece ticks all the boxes as the best travel destination worldwide. From interesting ancient monuments, charming fishing villages to traditional hilltop towns, and an excellent national cuisine, Greece has all it takes for you to have an outstanding vacation. You can spend months exploring all that this nation has to offer. However, if you plan to undertake a brief and memorable tour, Corfu Aquarium is an essential stop.

About the Corfu Aquarium

Corfu Aquarium is situated in Corfu Island within Paleокаstritsa, Greece. This tourist destination is on the Agios Petros beach down the hill where the famous Paleokastritsa monastery rests. The Aquarium was built in 2008, and it displays sea life directly from the sea water. Within Paleokastritsa, the seashore boasts crystal blue water and other exciting sea creatures and fish species.

Corfu Aquarium has a fascinating collection of unique sea life and reptiles. It hosts over 70 species of local fish and 25 reptile species in a 50,000-liter aquarium. The tourist destination is ideal for families and includes educational and entertaining narration from professional guides.

What to Do at the Corfu Aquarium

Visitors get a closer look at sea life with an intimate chat with a green iguana and an Asiatic rock python. The best choice for those who fancy sea life in real action is an underwater cruise with a submarine. Captain Nemo submarine can carry up to forty-nine passengers, and it will be above sea level throughout the cruise. Passengers can sit on the deck to admire the impressive cliffs while the giant glass window delivers a spectacular view of fish and corals that the Aquarium is renowned for.

Paleokastritsa is just a few minutes away, and you can go for swim dive or enjoy the remarkable clifftop view. Alternatively, you can purchase a ticket, combining a glass-bottomed submarine trip and an aquarium visit.

Getting to the Corfu Aquarium

Situated in Paleokastritsa on the Island’s west coast, Corfu Aquarium is roughly a thirty-minute drive. You can get there by renting a car or hopping on an organized day trip bus. The site is compact, and a visit can take less than an hour, although there is plenty to do and see in the local area.

The site boasts a massive parking area with over one hundred and fifty parking spaces, although it gets filled up quickly because it is shared with neighboring beaches, including Paleokastritsa. The Corfu Aquarium personnel are highly knowledgeable and experienced and provide valuable information about the species and assist people in interacting with some creatures, such as iguanas and snakes.

Although small, the Aquarium is rich in biodiversity and where both children and adults would find it interesting. It is a place that you must surely visit, especially if you are in the company of your children because it will be entertainment and education under a single package.
