Best Beaches to Visit on Nisyros

Written by in , Comments Off on Best Beaches to Visit on Nisyros

Nisyros is a small island in the Cyclades in Greece that is almost completely defined by the volcano that can be found in the middle of the island. As a result of this unique geographical feature, the island has some of the most stunning scenery in the Cycladic island group. There are two ways that people can come to the island – either by staying in the main village of Mandraki or by taking a day trip from Kos.

Because most of the visitors tend to come here only for the day, those who do stay for an extended period of time will be able to experience the full extend of the island’s peace while also enjoying the dramatic scenery. There are also some beaches located on the island for those who want to soak up the sun, enjoy the warm waters, and relax in a quiet and beautiful setting. Here’s a look at some of the best beaches on Nisyros:

Pali Beach

Pali Beach is a convenient choice for those who are staying in the main village of Mandraki, which makes it a logical choice for an extended stay on the beach. At about 4 kilometers away, it’s easily accessible, especially if you have a ride to the beach itself. It’s also located within close proximity to the road. This beach is made up of a long stretch of sand, and even though this is one of the island’s busiest beaches, the crowds are never overbearing. You’ll have your pick of spots to sit, which will enable you to relax under the sun in peace. You’ll need to bring your own towels and refreshments because Pali Beach is also fairly secluded.

Lies Beach

To get to Lies Beach from Mandraki, you need to travel a greater distance than you do to get to Pali Beach. However, if you can find a way to travel the 13 kilometers it will take to get there, you’re in for a treat! This is a stunning beach with plenty of places to enjoy the gorgeous setting. Not only are you treated to a stellar view of the Aegean Sea, but the beach itself is 1 kilometer long and has plenty of places to explore. There are coves, inlets, and even small caves so if you love to go for walks on the beach, this is the perfect place. The downsides are that there are no facilities nearby and that it can be difficult to find shade.

Katsouni Beach

Katsouni Beach is a logical choice if you’re staying in Mandraki since it’s only 9 kilometers away. It’s also only a few kilometers from the smaller village of Pali. Not only that, but it is a stunning beach that is definitely worth visiting! It’s the largest beach on the island, and it is also a haven for fishermen. There is also a cave here that you can explore.

While there are only a few beaches on this island, the fact that there are never really a lot of visitors beyond the day trippers tends to keep the crowds at bay. If you’re looking for a fully relaxing beach vacation in a gorgeous setting, Nisyros is definitely worth a visit. When you get here, don’t forget to take a break from the beach long enough to visit the dramatic crater!
