The Greek island of Santorini has a long and interesting when it comes to wine-making. Santorini is the oldest vineyard in all of Europe. The vineyards were destroyed when the island was covered in a thick layer of lava during the 1640 BC volcanic eruption. Since then, grapes have been the only plants to survive in the new soil that was created. The unique soil helps to produce grapes that cannot be found anywhere else. From these grapes, delicious wines are made. Sample some of these wines at Domaine Sigalas on Santorini.
