Spend Time at Panormos Beach in Mykonos

Written by in , Comments Off on Spend Time at Panormos Beach in Mykonos

The Greek island of Mykonos is known as being one of the most popular places to visit in all of Greece. One of the things that sets it apart is that it is a great place to visit for those who want to enjoy all that Greece has to offer, while getting some excellent nightlife. Visiting the beach is a popular activity, and for people who come to the island, they may want to enjoy a party while lounging in the sun. Panormos Beach is one of the places on the island where you can do that. Here’s more information about this beach, which is also family-friendly:

About Panormos Beach

You will have to head to the north side of the island in order to find Panormos Beach, and this means it is slightly tucked away form the tourist crowd but not so far away that you can’t find a good vibe. It’s 4.3 miles from Mykonos Town, 4.4 miles from the airport, and 4.6 miles from New Port. Since the beach is located on an inlet bay, it’s more protected from the wind than other beaches on the island.

This beach has a fairly relaxed vibe and it is family friendly. There is also a DJ at the bar in the afternoons during peak tourist season. However, you can easily avoid this by carving out your own corner of the beach away from the bar, or by visiting the beach in the morning and afternoon before the DJ arrives. You can also rent an umbrella and sun bed here, but you need to arrive early in the day so that you can grab one before they run out.

There are areas of the beach without sun beds and umbrellas if you would prefer a more natural beach experience. And there is a clothing-optional section of the beach to the far right. Either way, there are no motorized sports so your peace will not be disturbed, while still allowing you to enjoy the beautiful views.

What to Do at Panormos Beach

One of the most popular beach activities here is Kadima. If you’re not familiar with this beach sport, it’s when each person holds a small wooden paddle and hits a blue rubber ball back to the other person. There is also a volleyball net here, which is used from time to time. Other activities include snorkeling and building sand castles. This isn’t a big beach on activities, which is actually a plus if you want to relax. Many people like to simply wade in the water. This is easy to do because there are no waves, the water is warm, and the sand is easy on your feet.

If you want to eat at a delicious Greek restaurant, you can dine at Principote. The atmosphere is outstanding thanks to the views and spaciousness, the service is right on the money, and the food is often raved about. If you choose to dine here, it’s recommended that you try any of the fresh fish dishes, risotto, and pasta dishes on the menu.

As you can see, you can easily spend the day at Panormos Beach. While visiting Mykonos, you’ll want to carve out some time so that you can head here.
