Nafplio, Greece is a charming place to visit with its cobbled streets, flowered balconies, and impressive buildings. The beaches of Nafplio are home to some of the areas most impressive natural beauty. If you are looking for some relaxation while visiting Nafplio, Greece, here are some of the beaches you can enjoy.

Arvanitia Beach

Arvanitia Beach is located just behind the city center of Nafplio making it the most convenient beach to visit if you’re staying in the area. Arvanitia Beach is organized and there are some tourist facilities available as well. This partly pebbled, partly sandy beach has a view you won’t want to miss of Akronafplia Castle and Palamidi. The beach may be small, but it is the perfect choice if you’re staying in the town of Nafplio and want to be within walking distance of amenities and your accommodations.

Karathona Beach

Located just 6 km south of Nafplio, Karathona Beach offers tourist facilities and water sports, which makes it a popular destination. Karathona Beach also offers sun beds, umbrellas, tavernas, and cafes. This long sandy beach extends for about 3 km and can be accessed via a path that comes from Arvanitia Beach. The walk is about 45 minutes, but along the way you’ll be treated to wonderful views. You can also drive or catch the bus to the beach. Karathona Beach is ideal for lounging in peace under the sun.

Tolo Psili Ammos Beach

Tolo Psili Ammos Beach is located 10 km southeast of Nafplio. This sandy beach is the main beach in Tolo, which a popular beach resort just south of Nafplio. Tolo Psili Ammos Beach offers sun beds, umbrellas, and cafes and taverns on site. There are many campsites and hotels in the area. Tolo Psili Ammos Beach also offers water sports. The beach appeals to people of all ages and is a family friendly choice. You can get to this beach by bus or taxi.

Plaka Drepano Beach

Located on the eastern side of Nafplio, Plaka Drepano Beach is the ideal destination if you are looking for a more quiet beach to relax at. Fewer people visit this beach, so you won’t find it crowded or noisy. Plaka Drepano is a long and gravely beach that doesn’t have many facilities, but there are some sun beds and taverns where you can get a delicious meal. There are also campsites near the sea, if you enjoy an outdoor adventure.

Nea Kios Beach

Located just west of Nafplio, toward Mili, Nea Kios Beach is a partly sandy, partly pebbled beach that has very shallow water, making it an ideal beach for families with small children. The mud that is present on the seabed of Nea Kios Beach is said to be beneficial to one’s health. In fact, when spending time at Nea Kios Beach, you are likely to see people walking around with mud on their bodies. There are fish taverns located around the beach.

While in Nafplio, you’ll want to set aside some time to enjoy the island’s natural beauty. You can do this at one of its many beaches.
