As one of Greece’s only wax museums, this is a unique experience that all the people that you are traveling with will enjoy. This is also an educational experience because the museum gives people a chance to learn about the history of the region starting with events in Ancient Greece, such as the execution of Dionysius. Other historical events, such as World War II, are also covered here.

Acheron River

This river is one of the more scenic places in the area and makes a great day trip from Epirus. It is an especially great spot to visit in the summer since the water is cool and provides an excellent escape from the hot sun. Most organized trips take guests to an area of the river that has a great little village nearby to enjoy its cafes, and there are excellent swimming holes nearby. The Archeron River also has a rich history and is said to be one of the rivers flowing into the Underworld.

Vikos Gorge

Vikos Gorge is a mesmerizing place and one that you won’t want to miss if you’re visiting this beautiful region of Greece. However, in order to best experience the gorge, you will certainly want to bring your hiking shoes! Most people spend around 5-hours walking through the gorge and exploring the beauty within. Start your journey in the village of Monodentri where you can walk down to a monastery. Be sure to take your camera because you’ll want to take plenty of pictures! There is a national park here, which helps preserve the beauty of this natural landmark.

Lake Pamvotis

Sure, you can always visit some of the beaches that are part of the region. However, there are also other ways to enjoy the water while in Greece. Consider visiting Lake Pamvotis if you need a change of pace. To visit the lake, head to Ioannina so that you can meander through the village and also take a walk around the shore. There is also a beautiful view here of the surrounding area. Even if you only stop in for a few hours, this is more than enough time to enjoy what it has to offer.
