Written by in , Comments Off on Visit the National Marine Park on Alonissos Island

Alonissos is one of those gorgeous islands that seems too good to be true. Thick forests rich with vegetation like pine trees and oak trees dot the island. It is also rich in edible resources such as vineyards and also fruit trees. Between the vegetation and the mountains that seem to spring out of the sea, one of the main draws for visitors and locals alike on this island is its natural beauty. Nowhere is this more obvious than at the Alonissos National Marine Park. Here’s more information:

Getting to the Island of Alonissos

Before you can visit the Alonissos National Marine Park, you need to first arrive on the island. First of all, it’s important to understand that the island doesn’t have an airport. Your only option is to take a boat or a ferry to get to Alonissos. You can either take a ferry from the port at Piraeus or one of the other major ports in Greece. However, there are actually no direct flights from Piraeus to Alonissos – you will need to take a ferry to either Agios Konstantinos or Volos and from there, you can catch the ferry to Alonissos. You can also take a ferry from the main port town in Evia, but that’s only available if you travel during the peak summer months. You can also take a flight to the nearby island of Skiathos and then take a boat or ferry from there. This is an ideal option for those who want to minimize the time they will take traveling by sea.
