Petani Beach is 20 km west of Argostoli, the capital of the island of Kefalonia, and 13 km from Lixouri. Petani Beach is found in the peninsula of Paliki. Petani Beach sits at the bottom of a steep road. It has been awarded the Blue Flag for clean water, organization, and environmental management.
The name Petani comes from “epietani,” a word of Homer that refers to an area with abundant water all year long.

The beach is breathtaking with its sand, white pebbles, and blue crystal waters. The surrounding landscape of green cliffs and mountains are equally beautiful. The waters of Petani Beach can become wavy at times, so if you are spending time there with young children, you’ll want to take some extra care. The water also becomes deep close to shore, so all precautions should be taken.

Getting to Petani Beach in Kefalonia

You can get to the island of Kefalonia by plane or by ferry. The airport of Kefalonia is located in the region of Svoronata. Flights from Thessaloniki and Athens take about 1 hour, so this is your quickest option. The main port of Kefalonia is Poros and receives ferries from Killini. This trip takes about 90 minutes.

Petani Beach is located 20 km from Argostoli and 13 km from Lixouri. The wonderful thing about the island of Kefalonia is that you can get to almost any place, even remote villages and beaches by bus. You also have to option of renting a car or taking a taxi. Free parking is available at the beach.
