If you like water sports, you’re in luck! It’s said that Sarti has some of Halkidiki’s biggest waves.
Explore the History of Sithonia
The peninsula of Sithonia has interesting history to explore when you’re visiting. Sithonia’s main archaeological site is the Toroni Castle ruins. The ruins are a 5,000 year old reminder of the area’s turbulent past. The ruins may look small and insignificant, but the Byzantine fortress ruins are vast and run up to the summit of the mountain.
It is also known as Lekythos Castle thanks to its location near Lekythos Cape at the base of the mountain and where the harbour is today. St. Paul Church near Eli Beach is another important historic monument you will want to see. Tradition says that Apostle Paul stopped at the ancient spring for water. The historical village of Parthenonas and its Sykia windmills and museum are also worth a visit.
