Recipe for Greek Style Mustard Sauce

Although mustard isn’t a popular ingredient in Greek cooking, it does makes it’s way into the cuisine now and then, especially since the former King of Greece, King Otto, was from the Kingdom of Bavaria (now in Germany). This sauce is usually served on chicken, fish, and even Greek sausages.

Greek Mustard Sauce (Yefsi Pastourma) Recipe Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 yolks from 2 hard boiled eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Greek honey
  • 4 tablespoons fresh, chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons Greek olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions on How to Make Greek Mustard Sauce:

Add the mustard seeds to a food processor and pulse until ground.

Drizzle in the vinegar and pulse until a paste forms. Add the had boiled eggs and pulse for about ten seconds.

Let the motor to the food processor run while slowly adding in the honey, parsley, yogurt, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Serve immediately or refrigerate up to three days.
