Agia Marina is a beautiful town on the island of Crete, which Crete has to be in the discussion for being, at least, one of the top three most popular Greek islands for tourists to visit.

The beach is usually the first thing that people ask about when they’re traveling to an island, and Agia Marina Beach certainly will not disappoint. The beach features clean golden sands, beautiful turquoise water, and plenty of space for you and your guests to lounge in a beach chair or bed, underneath an umbrella or canopy. The beach is in a great area of Agia Marina with many views worthy of being captured on camera. Several hotels, restaurants and bars line the street where the beach is located, making it a nice little area to walk around, or even hang your hat for a night or two.

There is a great beach bar by the name of Summer Theatro Beach Bar. It has a nice and relaxing atmosphere, with great food and drinks at affordable prices. The bar is away from all of the crowds, so it’s a great spot to enjoy a drink without the hassle of dealing with flocks of tourists. This also might factor into your decision to choose Summer Theatro Beach Bar, but if you go there and order food and drinks, you are not charged any extra for using their umbrellas or sunbeds.

Me personally, I’ve always wanted to get better at surfing. If you’ve got the itch to surf like me, then you should check out Chania Surf Club, widely regarded as having the best surfing instructors on the island of Crete. Whether it’s surfing or stand-up paddle boarding that you want to learn, the instructors at Chania Surf Club are top notch. It doesn’t matter what your age or experience level is, you will walk (or swim) away from this experience gaining a great deal of knowledge and skill. Oh, and did I mention how much fun it is? While you have the opportunity, you should definitely try stand-up paddle boarding. It’s a pretty surreal feeling to get out into the middle of the ocean, stand up on your board, look all around you, and feel like you’re walking on water. It’s an amazing experience that you won’t soon forget!

One of the more popular attractions in Agia Marina is The Little Fun Train. Let’s face it; there is a lot to see and do on the island of Crete, but with The Little Fun Train, you can set aside two or three hours, and take a guided tour of the island, see a great deal of historical sights and landmarks, while learning way more than you ever anticipated — and certainly way more than you would have learned had you gone out exploring on your own. And the best part of the tour that The Little Fun Train takes you on is that you will see parts of Crete that are off the beaten path, that you likely would not have discovered otherwise. It’s well worth the price of admission, and don’t forget your camera!
