Aegina is a Greek island in the Saronic Gulf. The island of Aegina is just 27 km from Athens. Whitewashed houses and neoclassical mansions give the island charm. The mountains are covered in pistachio and pine trees. The southern part of the island, which is volcanic, is rugged and mountainous. Olive and pistachio groves cover the western side of Aegina. The island is also home to beautiful beaches that you will want to see when visiting.

Marathon Beach

Located 5 km southeast of Aegina Town, is the secluded beach of Marathon. Though close to Town, Marathon Beach doesn’t typically see crowds. The beach is easily accessible from the port. You can rent sun beds and umbrellas at Marathon Beach and there a number of taverns in the area. Since Aegina is a fishing village, you will enjoy a lot of fresh seafood. You can also rent diving equipment and snorkeling equipment at the beach if you want to explore.

Souvala Beach

The sandy and family friendly beach of Souvala is just 9 km northeast of Aegina Town on the north side of the island close to the village of Souvala, which is the second largest port. Souvala Beach is a popular beach resort that attracts many visitors during the summer months. Souvala Beach used to be known as Therma due to its warm, sulphuric waters that are known for their healing properties. These therapeutic waters are part of what draws the crowds to the beach. Souvala Village is a fishing village that features taverns, bars, cafés, and hotels. Souvala Beach is also known as Loutra Beach. Loutra in Greek means “baths” refering to therapeutic springs.

Perdika Beach

Located 10 km southeast of Aegina Town is the beach of Perdika. Perdika Beach isn’t as developed as other beached, but there are amenities around. There are also many fish taverns in the area. The beach is a mix of sand and rock and the waters are clean and lovely for swimming. Perdika Beach offers a wonderful view of the islet of Moni as well as the Peloponnese.

Vagia Beach

Vagia Beach is at the southernmost part of Aegina Island, just 4 km from Souvala Town. The beach is located at the bottom of Prophet Elias Mountain. Between the sandy beach of Vagia and the Afaia Temple are many pine trees. Vagia Beach is ideal for those looking to relax at a less crowded beach. The beach of Vagia is a small fishing hamlet. And if you enjoy nightlife, Souvala Town is nearby, and Aegina Town and Agia Marina aren’t far.

Agia Marina Beach

Agia Marina Beach is 12 km east of Aegina Town at the seaside tourist resort of Agia Marina. This is one of the few sandy beaches on the island of Aegina. The water is clear and perfect for swimming and water sports. There are water sports centers at the beach where you can rent equipment for parasailing, canoeing, and more.

The beaches of Aegina Island will give you a chance to relax, swim, and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
