The beautiful Greek island of Astypalaia is rich in history. Located in the middle of the Aegean Sea, Astypalaia is part of the Dodecanese group of islands. The island possesses a laid-back atmosphere that will make you feel relaxed. The beaches of the island are ideal spots for spending a relaxing afternoon under the sun.

Agios Konstantinos Beach

Located 7 km south of Chora on the island of Astypalaia, Agios Konstantinos Beach is the perfect destination for families, couples, or a group of friends. One part of Agios Konstantinos Beach is organized with sun beds and umbrellas. If you prefer, you can also bring your own towels and lie them out on the sand. Agios Konstantinos Beach is a long and sandy cove that is surrounded by a rocky and mountainous landscape. There are some orchards dotting the landscape as well. The beach features beautiful blue water that tempt you to spend time swimming. There is a tavern on the beach that serves delicious seafood, but it is only open during the summer months.

Marmari Beach

Marmari Beach is 5 km from Chora. Marmari Beach has the unique feature of actually being three separate beaches. Each beach is slightly different allowing you to find an area that suits your needs. The common feature of these beaches is that they all have sandy shores with pebbles mixed in and lovely crystalline waters. They are all also blessed with the same rugged landscape surrounding them. None of the beaches of Marmari have tourist facilities, but one does have sun beds making it the most occupied of the three. If you’re not fond of crowds, bring your own supplies and claim your spot at one of the other two areas.

Agios Andreas Beach

The small and sandy beach of Agios Andreas Beach is located 5 km. Agios Andreas Beach is on the straight that connects the two separate parts of Astypalaia. The Bay of Agios Andrea is home to a little port for fishing boats. This area is also where boat trips to other beaches and islands are organized. Agios Andreas Beach can be reached via a dirt road. It is an ideal beach to visit if you’re looking to avoid crowds and noise. If you’re up for some exploring, there is a small church that can be found on the slope of the hill. This is one of the oldest churches remaining on the island of Astypalaia.

Tzanaki Beach

Tzanaki Beach is a small bay that is 75 meters long. The beach is 3 km from Chora and within walking or biking distance of Livadia Beach, the most popular tourist beach in Astypalaia. Tzanaki Beach is secluded and the main nudist beach on the island. Around the beach, there are other small nudist bays you can enjoy as well. Non-nudists are also welcome at Tzanaki Beach. The view offered from this beach is beautiful.
