Beaches to Visit in Koufonisia

Written by in , Comments Off on Beaches to Visit in Koufonisia

Koufonisia, Greece, is the perfect destination for anyone planning a family or a solo vacation. The beautiful landscapes, sandy beaches, and crystal-clear waters offer you a peaceful environment to relax and unwind after a stressful period working. Besides, there are plenty of activities you can engage in if you prefer to be more active. When you get a chance to visit this incredible island, below are some of the many beaches worth discovering.

Pori Beach

If you’re traveling with your children, Pori Beach is one of the safest and child-friendly beaches in Koufonisia since it doesn’t get deep too quickly. Besides swimming in the blue-green water and relaxing on the dark sandy beach, you can participate in more adventurous activities, such as climbing the unique red rocks near the beach or exploring the nearby sea caves. For people planning to spend more time here, it’s recommended that you carry your own umbrella or, if you’re with family, a small beach tent.

Italida Beach

Italida Beach can be regarded as one of the most famous beaches on this island. A majority of people associate it with freedom, so you should expect a lot of nudity. The sand here is gold with unique colors, and the waters appear blue. Since it can be pretty hot and windy, do forget to carry with you a beach umbrella and bring some cold water in a backpack cooler. If you want to enjoy the beauty of Italida Beach with your family, the best months to tour the location are June, early July, and late September, when it’s less crowded and less nudity.

Ammos Beach

Just like the Pori Beach, this is another relatively shallow child-friendly beach. A majority of the people you’ll meet here will be on a family vacation; hence your children might get an opportunity to interact and make new friends. Although you can still carry your own beach tent, the tamarisk trees around the beach offer some shade protection. Furthermore, there are plenty of superb cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby where you can enjoy some good food and cold drinks. The sand is soft, and the water is crystal clear. May, September, and October are the perfect months to visit Ammos Beach since the temperatures during this period are average.

Fanos Beach

If you’re looking for a family-friendly beach with fantastic food at fair prices, Fanos Beach is your go-to destination. For a romantic time with your partner, visit the beach early in the morning and enjoy breakfast with a view. Another perfect time for a romantic meal with your partner would be in the evening when the sun is setting. When visiting the beach, you can carry your own umbrella or beach tent. However, just like in Ammos Beach, the tamarisk trees existing here offer some shade.

If you plan to spend the best part of your day at any of these beaches, ensure that you have suitable clothing and other beach essentials. A beach hat, sunscreen, sandals, bathing suit, towel, and beach umbrella might come in handy.
