Top Beaches on the Island of Paros

Written by in , Comments Off on Top Beaches on the Island of Paros

Paros is one of those Greek islands that appears to be tucked out of the way. Although it is often glossed over in favor of other islands in Greece, this is one place that really shouldn’t be ignored. This is an elegant island filled with seaside villages and plenty of attractions to satisfy every interest. The beaches are top notch, as well, and are considered to be some of the best that Greece has to offer. Here’s a look at some of the best beaches in Paros that you won’t want to miss:

Golden Beach

Although Paros doesn’t get as busy as some of the other tourist destinations in Greece, there is a healthy bustle here during the peak season. Golden Beach is considered to be one of the most popular beaches on the island, which means that if you’re looking for an ample crowd, you won’t want to miss the chance to spend time here. Known as Chrissi Akti in Greek, this beach features a long stretch of golden sand, warm, crystal blue waters, and plenty of nearby services. If you’re into windsurfing, this is also the place to be. The conditions here are excellent for windsurfers and the Professional Windsurfing Wold Cup takes place every year here.

Kolymbithres Beach

If you’re not interested in windsurfing or if the windy conditions at Golden Beach are a turnoff, consider heading to Kolymbithres Beach, instead. Since the beach is flanked by large rocks, the winds here aren’t as intense as some of the other beaches on Paros. This is also a great place to enjoy the sand and relaxing ocean. You can rent sun beds and umbrellas here as well as enjoy some of the beachside bars and cafes. This beach is located near Naoussa, which is also a place you must visit while on Paros.

Santa Maria Beach

Are you looking for a quiet place to spend your day? If so, consider visiting Santa Maria Beach! Located in Naoussa on Plastira Bay, this beach has a calm quality about it. Not only does it not get as busy as Golden Beahc and Kolymbithres Beach, but the fact that it is on a bay gives it a sense of a tranquility that makes the whole area seem peaceful. However, it is a fairly organized beach, which means that there are sun beds and umbrellas to rent and some services nearby, such as restaurants. It’s also an ideal beach for scuba divers and snorkelers, and there is a dive school nearby that can help you get started. Overall, this beach has a lot of its own charm and character and is definitely worth a visit!

Parasporos Beach

If you’re looking for a relaxing beach that has a bit of a bustle, consider visiting Parasporos Beach. Located in a popular area just south of the town of Parikia, this beach does see some healthy crowds but still isn’t overwhelming. There are some beachside bars here as well as umbrellas and sun beds to rent.

While on the island of Paros, consider visiting one of these popular beaches!
