Best Beaches on the Volcanic Island of Milos

Written by in , Comments Off on Best Beaches on the Volcanic Island of Milos

Beautiful Scenic Beaches Of Greek Island,Milos Island.Milos is one of those unique islands that is at least partially defined by its volcanic activity. The main portion of the island loops around the caldera and gives the island both a peaceful and unsettling feel. It is part of the same volcanic arc as the island of Santorini, and like that volcano, Milos is also dormant. Although it has been some time since it’s erupted, the fact that it could still erupt gives the island an unsettling feelings. Still, all this volcanic activity means that the beaches are some of the most beautiful in all of Greece. Here’s a list of some of the best beaches to visit:

Sarakiniko

If you only have time to visit one beach on Milos, Sarakiniko is it. This is the most famous and most often photographed beach on all of the island. Here, the water is a deep blue and the dark volcanic rocks that surround the beach offer a nice contrast between the water and the sun. When you visit, don’t forget to bring your camera! Since this beach is so popular, it is also extremely bush, which means that you may want to hold off visiting the island for some of the off-peak times, such as in May or September.

Kleftiko

One of the best things about Kleftiko Beach is the fact that it can’t be accessible by car or bus. The only way to reach it is to take a boat from Adamas. This means that once you do arrive, you’ll be treated to some amazing, unspoiled views. Make sure you check the boat schedule before you depart so that you don’t miss the last one!

Tsagrado

Do you want to avoid some of the bigger crowds on the island? If so, then Tsagrado Beach is the place to be! This beach is secluded and as a result of that, there are actually no organized services. However, you can easily enjoy your time here as long as you bring enough food and water for the whole day. Spending time here is worth it – it’s very picturesque!

Friplaka

Friplaka is a relaxing beach that also has some great views. However, there is no sand here, only pebbles, so you won’t want to forget your shoes. There are some basic facilities here but it is still relatively quiet. This is the perfect escape for those who want a nice beach day without all the hassle.

Paleochori

Many of the beaches on Milos are relatively quiet and some are even completely secluded. If you want a beach that has a little bit more of a bustle, Paleochori Beach is the place to be! There are many resorts located here, so if you want to spend most of your time on the island at the beach, finding a resort in this area could be worth your while.

Although Milos is a fairly popular island, it is on the smaller side, which means that it doesn’t get the same crowds as some of the others. This means that no matter what time of year you go, you won’t feel as if the crowds are too much to handle.
