Athens

Athens is the largest city in Greece, and it is so rich in things to do that you might feel as if you want to spend a considerable amount of time here. You can see historic landmarks such as the Parthenon, visit area beaches, enjoy the nightlife, explore the museums in the city, go shopping, and more. There’s something here for everyone!

Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and it is also worth visiting. Whereas Athens is known as being the historical counterpoint of Greece, Thessaloniki is looked at as a cultural hub. Because there is a major university here, it is also a fairly youthful city. There are also plenty of area beaches here to enjoy, excellent nightlife, and plenty of historical sites to see.

Heraklion

Heraklion is the largest city on the island of Crete, and it is absolutely worth a visit. This is a great city to base your activities on the island from, and the city itself has great things to do. Explore Knossos Palace, a leftover from the Minoan Civilization, one of the city’s many museums, lounge on one of the beaches in the area, and enjoy the island’s natural beauty.

Nafplio

Nafplio, which is located on the Peloponnese, is another great city to visit in Greece. After the Greek people won their independence from the Ottoman Empire, Nafplio was the capital of the country. Eventually, Athens became the capital. This is a lovely and relaxing city that has excellent views, is right on the sea, and has plenty of things to do!

Piraeus

Although people associate Piraeus with Athens since the two places are so close to one another, this does Piraeus a disservice. It is a thriving port city, and aside from that, there are also some great things to do while here. While in this area of Greece, you won’t want to ignore Piraeus. If you are taking a ferry or boarding a cruise ship in Piraeus, consider staying in this area for a day or two so that you can do some exploring!

Chania

Chania, which is located on Crete, isn’t the largest city the island has. However, it might be the most charming! There is a rich and engaging history here and it is fun to explore each of them. Whether walking along the Venetian fortress, gazing on the old mosque, shopping, or enjoying the surrounding area, you won’t be disappointed while you spend time here.

Corfu Town

Corfu is one of the most popular islands to visit in Greece, and Corfu Town, the largest city on the island, provides an excellent base of operations. Not only that, but there is a lot to do here. This city is thriving and it is rich with culture and history. Browse through some of the museums, go shopping, or hit the beach while here. You won’t be disappointed!
