Getting to Butterfly Valley

If you want to visit Butterfly Valley, you need to first make your way to the island of Rhodes, and there are two basic ways you can do that. First of all, there is an airport on the island so you can take a flight from Athens and a variety of other places. It is also possible to arrive here by boat or ferry. If you arrive to Rhodes by cruise ship, you may even have enough time to make your way to Butterfly Valley, but that will all depend on how long you have at port and whether or not you can find an excursion that will take you there. Butterfly Valley is located about 30 kilometers from the main town in Rhodes, which means that you might actually have time to visit here, if only it’s for a short while. Butterfly Valley is about 27 kilometers from Rhodes Town and about 5 kilometers from the village of Theologos.

Why Visit Butterfly Valley

So, why would you want to visit Butterfly Valley, or the Valley of the Butterflies as it is often called? First of all, this park, which is located on the western side of the island, is physically beautiful and bursting with nature. If you happen to visit in the months of June through September, you will have a chance to not only enjoy the natural beauty, but also see one of the millions of butterflies that live here during the summer months.

During the spring, Greece experiences a rainy season. At this time, the caterpillars turn into butterflies. Once they do, they head to places such as Butterfly Valley in order to reproduce. Over the years, people have heard that Butterfly Valley contains a large amount of butterflies, so people have come from all over the world just to see it. Not only that, but the park itself is filled with trails and other things to explore. It is absolutely worth a visit!
