Kassandra, Greece is a peninsula in the Halkidiki region known for its beaches, but there is so much more to see and do when visiting the area. The villages, the sites, and the food make Kassandra worth visiting. Here’s what you can do when in Kassandra, Greece.

Try the Local Products

Kassandra, Greece is rich in delicious local products and specialties that you will want to try. The pure, virgin olive oil made in Kassandra and Halkidiki is known for its quality and taste. You won’t have any trouble finding this local product when visiting Kassandra.

Needless to say, the olives of Kassandra are also worth tasting. Olives are cultivated by thousands of people throughout Halkidiki and you can find small packages to take away with you. Herbs grow in abundance throughout Kassandra and can be found quite easily. Sea fennel is an herb that grows near the sea. You can find it while walking the beaches in Kassandra.

Relax on the Beaches

Kassandra, Greece is home to some of the most beautiful beaches. Glarokaos Beach is on the southeast coastline of Kassandra. The beach features sand mixed with small pebbles. Around the shore you will find the water to be quite shallow. There are big trees located directly behind the beach where you can park if you drive. At the end of Glarokavos Beach there is a lagoon that is used as a post for fishing boats.

Posidi Cape is a sandbank that extends into the sea. This beach is located near a lighthouse. When visiting this beach, you must bring your own supplies. Other beaches around Kassandra include: Chrouso Beach, Kallithea Beach, and Kriopigi Beach.

Explore Hanioti

Hanioti is small, charming village and popular resort in Kassandra, Greece. Hanioti is located between Pefkohori and Polichrono. The village is a perfect combination of nightlife and peaceful relaxation during the day. The natural beauty of the area will draw you through the conifer trees and to the beaches. Water sports are available at the beaches of Hanioti if you’re up for an adventure.

If you stroll around Hanioti Village, you will notice the variety of Mediterranean flora that is present. There are also many traditional taverns, modern bars, stores, boutiques, and souvenir shops. The dance clubs in Hanioti are open to people of all ages.

Go On a Tour

When visiting Kassandra, you may want to take a tour and explore the peninsula with a knowledgable expert. There a variety of tours you can choose from including multi-day cruises around Halkidiki, sailing trips that include swimming, snorkeling, and drinks, and bike tours. You can take a tour of Petralona Cave.

This cave was discovered in 1969 by a villager of Petralona. The rock formations inside the cave resemble giant cactus and columns. A tour of Petralona Cave will educate you on the findings within the cave as well as its overall importance.
