What to Do on Mykonos Greek Island With Kids

Written by in , Comments Off on What to Do on Mykonos Greek Island With Kids

Mykonos is one of the most popular Greek islands to visit, especially for families. Although there is a nightlife and party scene here, that’s not all the island has to offer. If you find yourself here with your family, you will no doubt want to find some great activities that all ages will enjoy. Besides going to the beach, there are plenty of other things to do. Here’s more information:

Sightsee in Little Venice

This elegant, picturesque neighborhood is the perfect one to explore for a day. Take photos by the old houses and of the colorful sunsets. Once they get tired of sightseeing, kids will love watching the water and eating in restaurants nearby. Check out Il forno di Gerasimo for pizza, then, stop by Malibu Crepes for a delicious dessert. Children love sweets and chocolate, so treat them to a chocolate crepe while you enjoy one of your own.

See a Movie at the Open Air Cinema

From June 1 to September 30, enjoy a night watching a movie under the stars at Cine Manto. This is no ordinary theater. As you take in a film, enjoy the café and garden surroundings. View a family-friendly feature and get the chance to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the rest of the bustling island. Families love to unique atmosphere and getting the chance to look up at the night sky.

Spend Time at Delos Island

A 20-minute water taxi ride from Mykonos takes you to Delos, a rocky island with strong connections to mythology. Delos is the birthplace of both Artemis and Apollo, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Kids will love the boat ride and getting their pictures taken with the sculptures, including The Terrace of the Lions, and adults will get to learn some of the history of the island.

Go Horseback Riding

What kid does not like animals? Go on a family horseback ride, where kids can ride, see the sites and pet the horses. Mykonos Horseland, which is run by a professional horse rider and trainer, takes everyone’s needs and abilities into account, perfect for families. In a two-hour session, ride from the stables to Fokos Beach, past local farms, water and mountains. Notify Horseland if you have kids under 8 so the workers can determine if they can partake in the ride.

Spend Time at the Windmills

The windmills are an iconic feature of Mykonos. Although they are no longer in use, they are a sight to see. Children delight in their large size and bright color. The windmills make a great backdrop for family photos at any time of the day, but past visitors agree that capturing them at sunset is truly stunning. If you go close to sundown, see the white windmills glow in the dark. Visiting these is a must-see, and could be a nice activity for the final day of your trip. Finish your stay on the island at Souvlaki Story, where gyros, souvlaki, meat skewers, fries and other fast food favorites will satisfy everyone.

Mykonos is a great destination for the whole family and you will make memories that will last a lifetime! From the windmills to horseback riding, there is a lot to experience here.
