It’s true that people all over the world love chocolate and Greece is no exception. In Greece, variations on traditional treats, such as Chocolate Baklava, can be found in bakeries. An easy way to make a dish like chocolate baklava is to use chocolate fills. Consider substitute this filo in your favorite Greek dessert recipe.

Greek Style Chocolate Filo Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon water

Instructions on How to Prepare Greek Style Chocolate Filo:

Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl and whisk together. Add the lemon juice and water and stir gently with a wooden spoon or your hands until a tight ball of dough forms. Knead the ball for about five minutes or until firm.

Break the dough into about 8 pieces and roll each of them out as flat as possible using a rolling pin, broom handle, or even a pasta roller. If you have a pasta roller you can make thinner sheets by passing the dough through more than once to get ti thin.

Use the phyllo sheets as directed in the recipe and be sure to use them right away.
