Greece is a country with such a rich history, it can be hard to decide where to spend your time to learn about it. Well, if you find yourself on the beautiful island of Serifos, you should consider visiting the museum here. It will showcase the history of not only the island, but Greece as a whole. Here’s more information about it:

About the Serifos Archaeological Museum

The town hall building located in Piatza Square, Chora, houses the Archeological Museum in Serifos. It was the former home of the previous Municipal Hostel “Persues,” which closed in July 2022. While the museum moved to its current location following Perseus’ closing, it has been open to the public since 1976 and contains Serifos’s rich history dating back to the Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods. Its interior has been described as modest but interesting, with numerous ancient artifacts, including funerary stela, marble statues, vases, armor parts, and inscriptions.

What to Do at the Archaeological Museum in Serifos

Even though we’re stating the obvious, the first thing you should do is admire the ancient artifacts at the Archeological Museum in Serifos. And since you’ll probably have a tour guide by your side, learn as much as possible about the island’s history. Doing this will help you get more in touch with the island, its history, and its culture. Additionally, just outside lies the remnants of the Castle of Chora and Aspros Pirgos, dating as far back as the fourth century B.C.E. to the seventh century A.D., that were unearthed in Serifos. Take your time to admire this wonderful scenery and ask as many questions as you can.

After the learning session is over, you can take out your phones and cameras for an exciting photo session to conclude your trip. The essence of taking photos afterward is to ensure you’re focused during the tour guide’s explanation and that you can decide which artifacts you’d prefer to take pictures of; you don’t need to take pictures of everything. Such photos will help you store memories and can create adorable postcards for your loved ones.
