Written by in , Comments Off on Lounge on These Beaches in Anafi, Greece

The small island of Anafi is found just 22 km from Santorini. Anafi’s laid-back lifestyle makes it the perfect destination if you’re looking for a place to relax and explore at your own pace. The landscapes, the food, and the beaches make Anafi island worth visiting.

Get to Anafi via ferry. The most convenient ferry connection is from Santorini. During the summer months, you will find more ferry service. Getting around on the island of Anafi is convenient. There are buses that run regularly or you can rent a car or scooter in some areas. Walking is also an option. The walk from the port to Hora, the main village, is just 1 km.

Anafi’s beaches are delightful. When you’re visiting Anafi Island, you’ll want to spend as much time as you can soaking up the sun, lounging on the beach, and swimming in the water.

Roukounas Beach

Roukounas Beach is one of the longest beaches on Anafi Island, with a coastline of 300 meters long. This beach is also accessible to campers who will gather there especially during the summer. Roukounas Beach is also known as a nudist beach, so it won’t be especially crowded. If you’re looking for a beach with a bit of privacy, Roukounas Beach is worth a visit. This beach is 3 km southeast of Chora. It can be reached by foot, car, or boat. There is vegetation surrounding the beach providing natural shade.

Megas Potamos Beach

Located 4 km southwest of Chora, Mega Potamos Beach is the largest sandy beach on the island of Anafi. Because there is no road leading to this beach, it has to be reached by tour boat from the port. This only adds to the experience as you can view the island and beach from the water, which you might not otherwise consider doing. Mega Potamos Beach features soft sand, crystal water, and some pebbled areas. The beach lies between two mountain sides, which makes the landscape around the beach unique and interesting.

Agios Nikolaos Beach

Agios Nikolaos Beach is just 2 km from the main village (Chora) and meters from the Port of Anafi. Like most of the beaches on the island of Anafi, Agios Nikolaos is an unorganized beach, but thanks to its proximity to the port, there is access to amenities. There are some taverns nearby as well as a cafeteria and rooms to rent if you want to extend your stay in the area.

Katsouni Beach

Katsouni Beach is a secluded, nudist friendly beach that is found 2 km south of Chora. The rocky beach features a narrow shore and crystal water. If you’re looking for privacy and a quiet, relaxing time spent at the beach, Katsouni is for you. You can get to the beach on foot or by boat from the port. The walk from Chora takes about 30 minutes, so you’ll enjoy a lot of scenery along the way.

These are just a few of the many beaches you will find on the island of Anafi. Whichever you decide to spend time at, you won’t be disappointed.
