Possibly Lemnos’ greatest gift though is its beaches. Here are just a handful of the beaches you can visit when on the island of Lemnos.

Plati Beach

The popular beach of Plati is just 2 km from the Myrina, the capital of Lemnos. It is located beneath the village of Plati. The waters of the beach are shallow, making it ideal for families with children. There are also bars and cafeterias in the area. Another wonderful feature of this beach is the water sports center. They offer equipment for everyone as well as lessons if you want them.

Thanos Beach

4 km south of Myrina is Thanos Beach. This beach has sun beds and umbrellas available. There are lovely secluded areas if you’re looking for a bit of privacy and quiet. Thanos Beach is surrounded by volcanic rock and has fine sand and gorgeous water. Taverns line the beach so you won’t have to look far for drinks and meals.

Myrina Beach

As its name suggests, Myrina Beach is within walking distance of the capital. The beach is long with soft sand and plane and poplar trees that provide natural shade on sunny days. Being so close to the center of the main town, access to amenities is convenient. This is the perfect beach to visit if you are staying in Myrina and want to unwind after a day of sightseeing.

Romaikos Gialos Beach

Romaikos Gialos Beach is another convenient beach if you are staying in the town of Myrina. Just 1 km away, it’s within walking distance. Part of the beach has sun beds and umbrellas available. The shallow water makes Romaikos Gialos ideal for families with small children. The beach has water sports equipment available and there are places to eat close by. If you’re in the mood to explore, the neighborhood features charming narrow streets and neoclassical houses. There is a castle on top of the hill as well.

Prassa Beach

If you are looking for a more remote and secluded beach, Prassa Beach is a good choice. It is located 8 km from Myrina Town, close to Agios Ioannis and Karvounolakkas. This secluded beach is not organized, so you’ll have to come prepared with your own supplies. The beach is calm and quiet with a lovely landscape, especially the green hills, to admire. If you rent a car or motorbike, getting to town for food and drinks won’t take much time at all. Prassa beach has sand with pebbles and clear waters.
