Platis Gialos Beach
Located 6 km northwest of Lipsi Town, Platis Gialos is a secluded beach where you will find privacy and quiet. The shore is sandy and narrow and the water is a beautiful crystal turquoise color. Platis Gialos Beach in Lipsi is not organized, so you’ll want to bring your own supplied. There is a taverna on site that is only open during high season. Platis Gialos Beach can be reached easily by bus thanks to the frequency of the buses that run throughout Lipsi. You can also reach the beach by car, bike, or private boat. The cove at Platis Gialos is protected from the winds and features a sandy bottom, which is ideal with anchoring.
Katsadia Beach is located 3 km southeast of Lipsi Town. The beach is small, secluded, and not organized. The shore of Katsadia Beach is partly pebbled and partly sandy with lovely blue water. Katsadia is a small cove and there are other coves next to it where nudists tend to visit. There are trees on the beach that provide natural shade on sunny days. You can get to Katsadia Beach by foot or by car.
Tourkomnima Beach is another secluded cove in Lipsi. It is 6 km southwest of Lipsi Town on the southeastern side of the island. Next to Tourkomnima Beach is another beach called Hohlakoura. You can get to Tourkomnima by car or by walking if you enjoy a 30 minute walk before relaxing under the sun. The shore of Tourkomnima Beach is pebbled and the water is crystal clear. Across from the beach at the edge of the peninsula, there is a small chapel dedicated to Agios Stathis that is built on the rocks.
4 km southeast of Lipsi Town and next to Tourkomnima Beach, you will find Hohlakoura Beach. The beach features white stones and surrounded by some greenery, but mainly the surrounding landscape is rocky. Hohlakoura is one of the largest beaches on the island of Lipsi and its close proximity to Lipsi Town makes it an ideal destination as there are no tourist facilities on site.
The beach is not organized, but it is the perfect place to relax under the sun and cool off in the water. Above the beach of Hohlakoura is the Church of Panagia Harou, which is the protector of the island. It is one of the oldest churches on the island and houses an icon of Virgin Mary holding the crucified body of Jesus. The church is an austere Byzantine style and worth a visit when you’re in the area.
