Macedonia, Greece is home to some of the most beautiful and popular beaches. Located in Northern Greece, Macedonia is the largest region in Greece and the second-most populous. A large portion of Macedonia is mountainous while the rest is flat, consisting of gentle slopes. You will also find rivers, lakes, and fertile valleys in the region. When visiting the region of Macedonia, Greece, you will want to take advantage of some of the beaches it has to offer. Enjoy the gorgeous water you won’t see anywhere else in the world, the unique landscape, and hours of relaxation and fun.

Here are some of the best beaches to see while in Macedonia:

Sani Beach

Sani Beach in Halkidiki is found 10 km from Nea Fokea Village. What makes this beach a great choice amongst all the beaches in Macedonia is it clean blue waters, lovely sand, and line of trees along the coast that provide natural shade. Sani Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness. There are also many facilities and accomodations in the area. Another attraction of Sani Beach are the festivals regularly held there. Environmental activities take place during the summer months. Special care is taken to protect the environment around Sani Beach as it is home to rare flora and fauna.

Agia Triada Beach

Agia Triada Beach is just 22 km from the city center of Thessaloniki. Access to the beach is made convenient thanks to buses that leave the city regularly. The long beach is perfect for lounging and the crystal water is ideal for swimming and splashing. There are sun beds and umbrellas available at Agia Triada beach and you will find cafés and taverns in the area. The villages of Epanomi and Michaniona are nearby if you want to explore them and have access to more facilities.

Hanioti Beach

Hanioti Beach is in Halkidiki approximately 64 km southeast of Poligiros. This beach is suitable for families, couples, and groups of friends. The water at this beach is clear and warm, so it’s perfect for swimming. There are some secluded areas of the beach if you want to escape the crowds for a bit. Along the beach you will find water sports and other facilities to make your stay more enjoyable. There are also a number of fish taverns and cafés in the area when you get hungry.

Leptokarya Beach

Leptokarya Beach is 26 km south of Katerini. The mostly sandy beach stretches for 3 km. Leptokarya Beach sits at the foot of Mount Olympus, so you’re not only going to enjoy the view of the sea, but the mountain landscape as well. Hotels surround the beach and offer lanes to the sea to make walking easier where there are more pebbles. Other features of this beach include sun beds, umbrellas, beach bars, cafés, and other facilities.

Macedonia is home to many beautiful beaches. When you need a break from sight-seeing and want a relaxing place to spend some time, consider visiting one of the beaches listed above. You won’t be disappointed.
