About the Bellonio Cultural Center in Santorini

Located in Fira, the Bellonio Cultural Center is a showcasing of the diverse nature of Santorini’s heritage, culture, and tradition. The Bellonio Cultural Center is one of Santorini’s most important and popular cultural venues. It is located near the main square, next to the post office. In 1994, the center was founded by brothers Loukas and Evaggelos Bellonias. The aim of the Bellonio Cultural Center is to promote the culture and artistic tradition of the island of Santorini. The building that houses the center is multipurpose and was based on minimal and classical principles that were intended to match the architectural elements from long ago.

The Bellonio Cultural Center has a rich library that contains a large selection of books that provide information and insight. The center displays art objects and hosts brainstorming sessions with artists, academics, and scholars who deliver lectures on how to preserve highly acclaimed art objects. The conference area of the Bellonio Cultural Center can accommodate 60 – 120 people.

The Bellonio Cultural Center hosts art exhibitions and cultural shows on a regular basis. In the past, the center has hosted Mural Art Exhibitions that feature Mural paintings from the Histronic period, Byzantine period, and modern period.

The extensive library at the Bellonio Cultural Center is definitely worth a visit. You can easily spend hours browsing the collection. If you’re lucky, you might visit the center during a time when an art or cultural event is taking place, as they often are. You can get to the island og Santorini by ferry and by plane. The main port of Santorini is Athinios, which is conveniently 8 km from Fira. The airport of Santorini is also located 8 km from Fira. Santorini isn’t a large island and getting around can be done in a number of ways. For short distances, getting around on foot is ideal and a good way to see places in between your starting point and your destination. Renting a car will allow you flexible travel while you’re visiting the island. You can get from one place to another on your own schedule. Other ways to get around the island of Santorini include taxi, motorbikes, and buses.

While on Santorini, you should consider spending some time at the Bellonio Cultural Center. It is one of those places where you can enjoy cultural events while also spending time in the surrounding area seeing some fo the sites. When in Fira visiting the Bellonio Cultural Center, you may also want to visit the Museum of Prehistoric Thira, the Megaro Gyzi Museum, and the Old Port.
