Greek gyro plates are a common alternative to the sandwich throughout Greece. You can also make them at home!
Gyro Plate Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 Greek pita bread rounds, cut in wedges
- 1 recipe Greek tzatziki
- Slices of Gyro meat (eyeball it, but about 4-8 slices per plate)
- 1-2 large onion, sliced
- 2-3 large tomatoes, diced
- Crumbled feta cheese
- Greek fries, optional
- Dried Greek oregano, to garnish
Instructions on How to Prepare Gyro Plates:
Make the pita bread and tzatziki according to the recipe instructions if you have decided to make them yourself.
Arrange the gyro meat on the plates. You will need one plate per person. Add some onions, tomatoes, feta cheese and fries (if using) to each plate. Sprinkle with Greek oregano, to garnish.
Divide the pita bread wedges evenly amongst each of the plates along with a spoonful of tzatziki.
