There is a 500 meter long coastal path that leads from the Kato Mili Windmills to the beach. The sand at Megali Ammos Beach is a beautiful golden color.
A shallow reef stretches the entire length of Megali Ammos Beach. This reef keeps the water at the beach only knee-deep, so it’s the perfect spot for families, especially those with young children. The reef helps to keep the water at the beach at a warm and comfortable temperature. Once you get behind the reef of Megali Ammos Beach, the water will drop several meters in depth.

Though Megali Ammos Beach is close to Mykonos Town, the beach itself doesn’t have many tourist facilities. At the northern end of the beach there is a little tavern with some chairs. At the southern end of Megali Ammos Beach there is a small luxury hotel that provides some sun beds. The hotel also has a nice beach bar where you can enjoy drinks and a meal.
Megali Ammos Beach is within walking distance of Mykonos Town. If you are heading to the beach from the Kato Mili Windmills, you will find a lovely coastal path to follow. If you drive to the beach, you will find parking available at each end.
