Navagio Beach
Also known as Shipwreck Beach, Navagio Beach is one of those places that you simply won’t want to miss. The beach takes some effort to get to because it is only accessible by boat, but the effort it takes to get here will be worth it. There are no facilities here, but this is a fun beach to spend time at because of the shipwreck that is located on its sands. You can easily find a ship charter or a tour excursion that will take you here.
Spanzia Beach
Spanzia Beach is a fairly popular beach, mainly because it is so close to the main town on the island. It is only about ten miles away, which means that it is easy to get to by car, taxi, or even public transportation. The beach is surrounded be gorgeous vegetation and there are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas to rent. The surface here is a combination of soft sand and fine pebbles. It is also an organized beach and there are some facilities here.
Gerakas Beach
If you are looking for a physically beautiful beach to spend your time at while on Zakynthos, you should head to Gerakas Beach. This is actually a protected beach and falls under the National Marine Park of Zakynthos. The reason why it has achieved this status is because of the wildlife that is congregated here. There is a certain kind of sea turtle that comes here in order to lay their eggs. While here, you can also rent sun beds and umbrellas.
Kalamaki Beach
Another place that you can catch a glimpse of the sea turtles is on Kalamaki Beach. At certain times of the year, you can even watch them being born! There are other reasons to visit this beach, such as the fact that it is easily accessible and has plenty of services here for people to enjoy. The beach is also in a great location and is known for its beauty. If you love nightlife, this beach is also a good choice because the area does come alive at night and there are plenty of area bars to visit. This beach is also a great place for families.
Marathonisi Islet
Although Marathonisi Islet isn’t specifically a beach, there is a beach here that people enjoy. The islet itself is located on Laganas Bay, which is across from Keri Beach. The islet doesn’t have any inhabitants, but it makes for a nice place to spend some time. Bring a picnic lunch, lounge on the beach that is located here, and go for a leisurely, quiet walk. This place is perfect for those who want a place to get away from some of the crowds.
